Well, if you compare the English/British and the German system, I think the German one is way better. I have been part of both and sometimes it is just amazing how bad the general knowledge of some British people is

My husband and I have also thought about going to britain or maybe Ireland some years ago but there were so mayn points against it. I would like to live there, but I have a house here, have to care for my grandparents and my father in law has a kidney illness and we never know how long he will be okay. He needs new kidneys and a new liver so we decided to stay so we are near if something is wrong with him. Maybe we will think about it again later.

That's very kind of you to put other people's needs before yours. I quite missed my family and friends the first few months after moving here, but to be honest, you get used to the situation and at the moment I am quite happy not to have my family around all the time

Is it 5? Do they not go to some sort of pre-school when they are 4?

We have had one here earlier because we had an english army point here. But they left 12 years ago and the school with them. Many of the english children weren't allowed to go to german schools so I guess they prefer their school system.
4 years? My friend told me they start at the age of 3. Is it optional in that age? Did I get it wrong?

well, my husband would not be happy when he can't be sure his dad is okay, and I know my mother and aunt would not care for my grnadparents so we could not become happy in britain I guess. But I do not stop dreaming of moving one day

In England and Wales, most local education authorities have a policy of accepting children into school at the beginning of the term during which the child becomes five. In England and Wales, every three-year-old and four-year-old is entitled to a free early education place. This is only if you want to take up a place. http://www.adviceguide.org.uk/index/family_parent/ education/access_to_education.htm

Oh oh...this thread is the best idea ever
I spoke english very well....but years ago
I'm out of exercise (??). The advantage: I can talk about my husband (our marriage will be on friday), but he can't understand it. Sometimes he is reading my comments. Fortunately he can't speak english.
I'm very glad that I understood all your comments without any problems.
But I still have to struggele with(??) grammar. The old issue
I hope I can revive my english

nice to meet you.
Yeah, my husband also likes to read my comments sometimes, but often he turns around bored because most comments are dealing with mama problems
