Absolutely. I was in the former east germany in the school. We haved russian. Englisch only from 7th grade. It was´nt important. And now I can´t it so good.
But your crazy people write so much.... than I will better and better...

thank you! I have not heard this before, so I have learnt something new now... unfortunately most of my penpals do not correct me if I am wrong so I never know if I am right or wrong.

When I moved to the UK I always asked people if they could please correct my English but nobody ever did. I think they do not due to politeness, they do not want to offend you. Or they kept saying " Don't worry, your English is better than my German!" . Great, that did not really help!

I hope, my first sentences here are correct?
My english is really terrible but I need it, also in my Job!
And it is better for me and my daughter!
The aunt´s of my Boyfriends have all american Housebands, and it is realley hard for me to talk with him!
I hope you can understand me?

I can understand you but you did a few spelling mistakes

honestly I can't tell you the exact number because some of them only write one or two times a year and I never know if I can still call them my penpakls... I guess around 15 who write regularly.
One is coming from Australia, 8 from the USA and 7 from the UK and Ireland. maybe one more or less... and I try to find new ones all the time. it is interesting to get to know many new people and I can use my english

Emily is a little over 6 months old now. (one of you asked ) I speak to her in German, my husband in English. although sometimes I speak to her in English too, when my husband is there.

when I lived in the States, no one ever corrected me, either. even when I asked. they are too polite, I guess...

@ steffi: there is an online dictionary I sometimes use... www.dict.cc try it, it is great

awwww tell me from where your irish pals are?! I used to live in ireland cause my husband is irish
I have also a couple of oversea friends but als german speaking friends
