Last night we finally had some rain, like rain rain and not only some drizzle, but still not enough to lift fire bans. It also didn't help with the fires burning they even got worse, especially the one on Fort Mac. They evacuated another 8k people from camps on the north side of Fort Mac. The fire is moving 30-40meters per minute and only 5km away from town limits again! it's so frustrating that the government is doing nothing about it. They declined help from Russia, US and Mexico.

Weather report for Seattle: rather cold and rainy- chance of showers (is it the same word like Dusche??? )

Yes, same word, but different meaning. Another word is precipitation

This is one of the words I will never be able to pronounce without breaing my tongue

The fire situation there is horrible. And why would the government deny help from other countries? That's outrageous. Well, I hope they will be able to put the fires out soon. And that the rain will help!
Here, we have sunshine and beautiful warm weather. We are planning on going hiking/camping this weekend though. And it might rain. I hope it won't. Or at least not until we are on our way back.

It is like hell today the first camp burned down
It feels so awkward as those camps are my husbands second home. He worked up there for the last six years. Fire was close to the camp he stayed in last.

The people going back were workers. They stayed in the camps, which they evacuated yesterday and today. There are still some people up north. Citizens from Fort Mac are not allowed to go back. Highways are still closed northbound. And even southbound is closed now as the fire is too close to the highway

First thing, this fire will not be getting under control without rain. Heavy rain is the only way to get it under control at this point, there is nothing what the fire fighters can do.
Why they denied the helped, only they know. Officially they said, we have enough resources here in Canada to get it under control (we see how good that worked). The next thing is, they first need to get everyone out before they send more people up. Also, some of the waterbombers cannot fly due to bad visibility. This is the official version.
When you listen to the population, you will hear different things. Trudeau doesn't like the west, he is against the oilfields, even if this is the place where the east gets the money from... He doesn't give a shit about what's going on in Alberta, BC and MB/ON. As wel as our "lovely" Premier Notley has no clue what she is doing. She is a complete joke. She told the MLA from Fort Mac he is fear mongering, a day later they put a mandatory evacuation notice for Fort Mac out..... She refused to call out a state of emergency....a day later she did.... And opening a press conference in regards to the brush fires in Fort Mac with a bad star wars joke is so immature, especially when it comes prom the PM...

Hope you have fun hiking/ camping and if it rains, send it out ways, we need it

All that sounds really messed up! (here is t some bad American slang language ) I definitely hope for lots of rain for you guys. Does it usually rain a lot around this time of year? Or is that almost like wishful thinking?

It is way too dry for this time of a year. We normally have snow till beginning of April, lots of rain end of April into May. We barely had any precipitation since last summer

I saw it when I flew over Canada 2 weeks ago- no snow, nothing! The Cascades here are still covered in snow, so for me the difference was significant.
And as even the wildfires last summer here in Washington were burning till November, and they were small compared to the ones up in Fort Mac, I can imagine that no efforts people can make will really put them out.
Another slang language: That sucks!

Luckily we are at no danger so far. We are about 460km south off it. Seeing those camps hit by fire still hurts. It was my husbands second home for almost 6 years now.

The press conference was in May 4th and he opened it with the sentence "may the force (fourth) be with them..." and had a smirk on his face.... this is just plain and simple not the time for such bs
