I tom Russian in school, too. And later French as well. I've forgotten most of it, though. I might still be able to read and understand some. But I always had a hard time understanding the French speaking it. They didn't sound like outer teacher with her German accent.
we had no French teacher at school

we had a native speaker in french class. on the one hand it was good to learn it without [an] accent. but on the other it was terrible - she tried to teach us grammar in french right from the beginning! how should someone without french knowledge understand a word?
how should anyone understand it without any knowledge of French?

Just because I noticed it here twice, 'but' shouldn't be standing at the beginning of a sentence

A bit about myself:
My name is Britta and I am living in Canada for almost 9 years now. I have three kids, they are almost 13, 7 and 2.5 years old. My two youngest were born in Canada. I am a stay at home mom, cause my husband is working out of town.
My grammar till sucks, but I try to give my best. And seriously, there are only a few people around here who really know how to speak and write English native speaker are the worst when it comes to grammar and writing they don't have a clue between there, their and they're. I love Canada. My Grandma and Grandpa live there. They are 82 and 91 and live in Renfrew ( close to Ottawa). I've been to Canada about 6 times and it's the only other country I'd love to live in. Beautiful country and beautiful people! Where exactly do you live?

A great Idea

I am not so often online to see what everybody posts, but i marked the page cause i find it very interesting! Yes i agree, its never too late to learn and for me a great place in the future to keep my English at its best.

To Me: I am a Namibian, 31 years old living in Germany since 2009. I love the German language so much that i even dream and think in German , a very interesting language i have learned over the past 7 years, but i wouldn´t want to forget English or let my English rust as you say it cos English is a world language and the national language in my home country as well.

So folks, lets keep going. I´ll definately join the correcting members in the group to help everybody else learn German and by this way my English automatically stay afresh.

I wish you all a pleasant weekend

Good morning everybody,

what are you doing today?

My boys will have a "Vorspiel" at the music school and this afternoon some friends will come and we will have a barbecue.

Yesterday we were in town to look for a new schoolbag for my son because in September he will change to the highschool. I think we've found one: a blue bag namend "scatch". Inclusive sportbag (?) and pencil case we have to pay 180 € It's almost as expensive as his schoolbag for the first class.

Good morning.
Today, we visit the grandmother of my boyfriend. She had birthday on Tuesday.

Only for a schoolbag and some pencils, i agree with your opinion; that's expensive. A bit worse that it's not getting better with the time

We are going to do some gardening work and just enjoying my husband is at home this weekend. The last two weekends he had been at work and at a "Messe" (?).

School bags are so expensive and they're even more expensive today than when my son got a school child. In two years my second daughter will go to school, for my sons first bag I payed 145,- Euro. I expect 100 Euro more for hers.

Please, don't do this again without any warning.
This is heavy stuff for phobics like me.

I'm so sorry! I don't think about it

You're welcome.
It is not only giving me shivers but my heartrate increases, too. I am really scared, though it is only a picture. Stupid, I know...

Quite a bunch of people coming together. Let's try to keep this thread up and running for a long time, so we all can be prepared for a spontaneously Queen's visit or in case George Clooney may need some advice in how to drink perfect coffee.

Today I need to get rid of this huge pile of laundry. It's a never ending story...

So there is still hope for my pupils. I have to repeat the correct use after every class test.

And as a matter of fact I'm grading the latest class test today and it's hard works to find out exactly what they wanted to say.

Gym bag is the term we use here. Not sure if sports bag is the term for BE.

Lol, that's not the only one I definitely feel with you and my former English teacher.
